The Government of Pakistan has advanced a range of programmes, policies and strategies that have created new transformational opportunities to ensure the country’s continued growth, including augmented preparedness and response to climatic events. Since 2013, the Government of Pakistan has contributed 519,000 metric tons of wheat valued at US$198 million and has become one of the largest host government donors to the World Food Programme (WFP) worldwide. Between 2013 and 2015, the partnership between WFP and the Government of Pakistan has enhanced the food security and nutrition of 7.4 million Pakistanis which has contributed towards the country’s significant progress in these areas.
In the Photo: WFP provides locally developed and produced supplementary foods, such as Acha Mum, a ready-to-use and tasty nutritious supplement based on chickpeas. Acha Mum is used to treat moderate acute malnutrition in children aged 6 months to 59 months.

اعلنت الامم المتحدة، الاربعاء، إن حوالي نصف مليون شخص بأجزاء من مقاطعة بلوشستان في باكستان يواجهون أزمة انعدام الأمن الغذائي.
وقال فرحان حق نائب المتحدث باسم امين عام الأمم المتحدة، نقلا عن مكتب تنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية (OCHA، اليوم الاربعاء، أنه “يحتاج 100 ألف شخص آخر إلى مساعدة فورية منقذة للحياة بسبب ظروف شبيهة بالجفاف حيث أدت موجة الجفاف وانخفاض توافر المياه إلى تدمير المحاصيل وتهديد بقاء الماشية”.
وأضاف حق، أنه “لا تزال بلوشستان تعاني أيضًا من آثار العديد من الكوارث الأخيرة، بما في ذلك الشتاء القاسي وغزو الجراد ووباء كورونا”.
وأشار إلى أن “الامم المتحدة وشركاء قطاع الأمن الغذائي يدعمون سلطات إدارة الكوارث في المقاطعات، بمشاريع سبل العيش في بعض المناطق المتضررة”.
واوضح انه “تتطلب خطة الاستجابة الإنسانية الباكستانية، التي تستهدف 4.3 مليون شخص من أصل 11 مليون شخص محتاج، 332 مليون دولار، وتم تمويلها بنسبة 18 في المائة فقط”.
